PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO
I’m an early career high school teacher currently seeking my next appointment in an innovative South Australian school.
Of course history and literature, the teaching areas in which I have the most experience, are unique gateways to an understanding of culture, society and the individual, and the inextricable connections between them.
But I see myself as much more than a ‘subject teacher’; I work to create meaningful links between all areas of the curriculum with the goal that all students come to appreciate the value of a truly multidisciplinary toolset of knowledge and skills, rather than merely enjoy a favourite topic or class.
Through inquiry-based learning and socratic guidance towards higher-order critical thinking, I’m excited to equip young people with the tools they need to confidently navigate the real world and all its possibilities, and to courageously investigate the world of ideas in all its complexity.
I’m also driven to help realise the strategic implementation of research-backed innovation, such as the ‘flipping’ of direct instruction and student application to maximise the potential of the student-centred classroom.
